Starting from the Lava ring road there is a waling track down the hillside through pine and rhododendron into mixed forest where there is a wide jeep track that winds around the lower hillside to join the Dandim road about 4/5 km’s east of Lava where collection by vehicle could be arranged.

Selected sightings: Rusty-cheeked and Streak-breasted Scimitar Babbler, Streaked, Chestnut-crowned, Blue-winged and White-throated Laughingthrush, Grey-throated Babbler, Golden-fronted Barbet, Scarlet Finch, Brown Parrotbill, Black-throated Sunbird, Little and Spotted Forktail, Yellow-throated Fulvetta, Dark-breasted and Vinaceous Rosefinch (Jan), Scaly-breasted Wren-Babbler, Rufous-breasted and Maroon-backed Accentor, Long-tailed Thrush and Chestnut-headed Tesia.
