Situated at 3800m altitude with an Alpine climate near to the Chinese border it is frozen until mid summer and permission is required and only Sikkim registered vehicles can be used, but the area is worth the effort despite the military presence.


Selected sightings: Himalayan Monal, Upland Buzzard, Upland Pipit, Hill Pigeon, Maroon Oriole, black-faced Laughingthrush and Maroon-backed, Alpine and Altai Accentor.
