Pemayangtse

Mossy oak forest surrounds the monastery; the second oldest in Sikkim and there is also good mixed forest around nearby Rabdentse, Sikkim’s former capital. Pemayangtse should be good for skulkers if you can withstand the leeches, Rabdentse because of the tourist attraction of the ruins of the former capital has a good dry trail and was rewarding.

Selected sightings: Orange-bellied Leafbird, Long-tailed Sibia, Green Shrike-Babbler, White-browed Shrike-Babbler, Nepal Fulvetta, Fire-breasted and Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker, Large-billed Leaf Warbler, Golden-fronted Barbet, Hill Prinia and Small Niltava.
