Trekking in North Sikkim This wild and beautiful part of Sikkim is a restricted area, and permits to trek here are harder to obtain than for other parts of Sikkim, especially for foreigners. Interested parties must have a minimum of four persons, and plenty of time should be allowed in advance to obtain permits before the date of the proposed trip. They cannot normally be obtained locally.
Starting at Zema, just north of Lachen, the 12 day Green Lake and Zemu Glacier trek is not for the faint hearted, but should be reward with superb views of the beautiful Siniolchu and Kanchenjunga. This is the area explored by Douglas Freshfield in 1899. The journey by road from Gangtok to Lachen takes 7 to 9 hours, and is often subject to delays because of road conditions. It is essential to allow for this when planning a trip.
This trek is likely to cost significantly more than other treks described here. Please contact us for further information.
